Pastors Report: No written report. Father Tony suggested we open up the new church for visitors to tour the facility on the Sunday after Christmas for 1 – 1 ½ hours in the afternoon.  Some discussion followed. Will be looking at the feasibility of this being done. If so would need a couple of people to be on hand.

Old Business:

  • St Boniface Closing: Father Thom said all went well. Had a very good turnout and the meal furnished by Cecelia Sullivan was well received.
  • Ocktoberfest “Fun” raiser: Dave Schnier said all went well and they netted about $2300.00.
  • Transition to New Parish Offices: Father Tony stated that he was very impressed with how well the move went and all the help that made the move so successful.
  • Transition Committee Report, Auction: Joe Leonard reported that all went well. There will still be more items to be disposed of and hopes someone will be able to take over when the balance needs to be disposed of. Joe thanked everyone who made this move go so smoothly, there was well over 50 people who donated their time. Joe stated the total profit was around $5500.

New Business: None

Faith Facilities Report: No written report. Dick Roberts stated that LaMetta Wynn Drive was being paved. The parking lights are now on. The church floor should all be done by Christmas and the windows should all be in by the end of November. Dick stated that all is progressing well.  Will be starting work on the Baptismal font. Father Tony mentioned there is a lot of interest within the community on our new church.

Prince of Peace School Report: Written reports submitted. Christy Roth stated that parents will now have the opportunity to view their children’s grades online. Christy also mentioned the STO program, which is funded 100% for any children interested. On January 17th the Irish Auction will be held at the Casino.

COMMISSION REPORTS:

  • Parish Life Commission: Written report submitted on the St Boniface Cultural Center. Bev stated they had 17 members present and now have a balance on hand of $1945.80. Next meeting will be held December 4th at 7 PM – St Boniface Hall.
  • Liturgical & Spiritual Life Commission: Father Thom said the Christmas planning will take place at our meeting on Saturday, Nov.22nd. There will be no Children’s Mass at CCW this year as all the chairs are in St. Mary church. An additional Mass has been added at 6 PM on Christmas Eve, which will be designated as the Children’s Mass. There will also be a 4 PM Mass along with the 8:30 and 11:00 PM Masses. The 4 PM and 6 PM Masses will have arrangements made for overflow in St Edwards Hall. On Christmas day the Masses will be at 8:00 and 10:00 AM. There is a sub-committee that will meet for the planning of the Dedication Mass. No set date for the dedication yet but it will be on a Saturday morning at 10:30 AM and it will be designated as Dedication weekend. The closing of St Mary would be the weekend prior to the dedication and looking at maybe Bishop Franklin doing this closing ceremony. Looking at maybe February 14th for dedication and if not then the first week of March, due to the CEW weekends for the Men and Women. Discussion followed.
  • Social Action Commission: No written report. Marc stated they had not met but he mentioned the Peru celebration.

Finance Commission: No written report. Ed mentioned we had a very good October partially in due to the Cuneen Appeal – 1688 families in parish and 774 envelope users and we have heard from 342 envelope givers with an increase. Summarizing it is $2305 per week and outright gifts of $8225. Ed stated this is outstanding considering all the bad economic news. One of the expenses we had in October was paying the shortfall of $9968 to the Diocese for our commitment to ADA. Ed stated we are at 50% of goal for the ADA this year.
Faith Formation Commission: No written report. Mary Jo Dopson stated that they have not had a meeting since October and with people gone they will be rescheduling their meeting.
Evangelization Committee: Written report submitted. Father Thom stated that Kathy DeMong has taken over heading this committee. Discussion was on the Coming Home event and they viewed a tape from the Spirit and Truth Conference.
Stewardship: Written report submitted. Odelia stated the sub-committee for visiting new members has been active. The ministry fair committee is in the gathering stages. Odelia stated we will be having a lay witness speaker at all five Masses this weekend. The speaker will be Diana Boyd and her son Josh and it will be more on the spiritual aspect of Stewardship.

Next meeting will be January 15, 2009 @ 7:00 p.m. at St. Boniface Hall.

Father Thom ended with our Parish Prayer.

Respectfully submitted

Bev Putman
