Pastors Report: No written report. Father Tony thanked Mary Beth Butt and Sister Kathy for their help on the sub-committee deciding the wording for the cornerstone. He asked if they would continue on this committee to decide what to put in the time capsule. Father said they would be moving into their new office and would be open for business on November 3rd. They will be moving the week of October 27th. Father thanked Marilou and Mike Finn for handling the refreshments for the Open House held at our new church site and all involved in the event.
Old Business:
- Review of Pork Dinner: Father Tony stated that Cathy & Steve Eggers did a wonderful job in getting young people involved. Father Tony stated that Cathy got the pork at another place and saved $600 in doing so and asked Father Tony to get our opinion as to how it went over. Some discussion followed. We also received more money on the children’s games and it was determined it was a great success. Dave stated they served 1100 people. Chris and Kristine Vens were co-chairs.
- Review of Cornerstone Blessing/Open House: Tom said he thought it was very nice and the comments from the people attending were varied. Bigger than they thought it was, the different colors of red and green, but overall the comments were very good. Some discussion on allowing food in the pews, since we will have the gathering space. Brenda mentioned that they had a good crew out at the site planting trees, etc. Father mentioned we needed to thank John Mulholland for all his efforts on trees, sod, etc.
- Review Committee Assignments: Tom asked if everyone knew which committees they were on and Father said as long as all the bases were covered it was taken care of. Father Thom mentioned that we should put Evangelization under Stewardship instead of Faith Formation. Bev stated she would get copies to all on which committees everyone was on.
New Business:
- St Boniface Closing: Father Thom mentioned that Bishop Amos would be here to celebrate with us and all ministry positions are covered. Cecelia Sullivan stepped forward and said she would like to prepare a meal for all after the Mass. Father Thom said that Dan Waters and Cecelia Sullivan would be doing a memories talk.
- Ocktoberfest “Fun”raiser: Father Tony mentioned the fundraiser at 7:00 pm on Friday night at Gil’s. Should be a fun time for all.
- Transition to New Parish Offices: Dave stated that all is going well. Furniture and carpet are being installed. Ed mentioned that we have a lease agreement with the Victory Center until November 11th, which gives us leeway to get everything out. Father stated that it would be nice to have a crew in to help clean up after everything is out so we can leave the building in good shape.
- Transition Committee Report – Joe Leonard: Joe stated his goal would be to have a crew in to load up trailers on November 7th and move up to St. Irenaeus on November 8th for the auction. Joe stated we have received about $1500 for the sale of steel, which will cover the costs of the dumpsters.
Faith Facilities Report: No written report. Dick Roberts reported that things are going very well. Dick stated that there would be a low spot on the street that is being done by the city, which is called LaMetta Wynn Drive. This area could collect water so we need to be aware of it. Dick reported that the covered drop off area is now being estimated at $72,000 and it has been suggested we bid this out at a later date to a local contractor. Dick mentioned that Mike Pittman is still the person to go to with questions, etc., but Dick will be handling the sound system. Father Tony said that they are still not sure of when the dedication will be. His thoughts are that the dedication take place on Saturday morning, but advertise that we will make it a dedication weekend. It would alleviate everyone having to come to one Mass. The celebration would be done at all the Masses that weekend.
Prince of Peace School Report: No report
COMMISSION REPORTS:
- Parish Life Commission: No report.
- Liturgical & Spiritual Life Commission: No written report. Father Thom mentioned that the closing liturgy for St Boniface is all in place. Father also stated that the sub-committee to work on the dedication for our new church is meeting this coming Monday. He has received materials from closings from other parishes and will be looking at those. There was also a Musicians workshop and it went well. The next meeting is scheduled for October 25th.
- Social Action Commission: Written report submitted. Marc stated that Sallyann McCarthy wants to pass on the chair of the Task Force for Peru and there is an insert in the Bulletin this week about Faithful Citizenship.
Finance Commission: No written report.
- Stewardship of Treasure results (Cunneen): Ed gave an update on the second weekend of the Cunneen Stewardship of Treasure. 249 envelope users have responded, which is about 1/3 of envelope givers and the increase comes to about $80,000 per year so far. Ed again reiterated about our generous parish.
- Annual Diocesan Appeal: Ed reported we are about $11,000 in deficit. The ADA kickoff weekend is October 25-26 and we need to encourage participation.
- Gifting Opportunities: Ed reported the gifting opportunity has been very well received. You can donate to any or part of any of the gifts. The items have already been purchased but this will help with the debt reduction. Discussion followed. Dave stated that on October 22nd the pews will be removed and we will be using folding chairs at St. Mary’s Church.
Faith Formation Commission: Written report submitted. Brenda reported their next meeting is October 28th and all will be contacted as to where the meeting will be held.
- Evangelization Committee: No written report. Father Thom said they had a Coming Home event and there were three gentlemen who showed up. Father said that Kathy DeMong would be taking over the chair for Evangelization. Father feels that Evangelization should fall under Stewardship. This will be done at the next meeting.
Stewardship: Written report submitted. Mike Finn reported they are working on the Welcoming committee and Bev reported they have added one more person to the Ministry Fair.
Next meeting will be November 20, 2008 @ 7:00 p.m. at St. Boniface Hall.
Father Tony ended with prayer from the prayer card from Father Marty Goetz.
Respectfully submitted,
Bev Putman
