Pastors Report: Fr. Tony mentioned how blessed our Parish is. There was a special Finance Council meeting to decide how to handle the great gift from Clair Adams and his brother. We will be using the one million to pay off on our loan and the balance is in a Money Market account. Father also mentioned there was a Corporate Board meeting in Iowa City with Mike Rastrelli and Odelia Schrunk attending along with Father.

      C. Need Policy on Announcements at Mass:  A sub-committee headed by Brenda Bertram will come up with a policy and procedure to follow. A handout from another church is attached as an example. Discussion followed. The council would like to have a proposal by the next Pastoral Council meeting. Charlie Minnick, Mary Jo Dopson and Bev Putman will work with Brenda.

      D. Disaster Preparedness:  Dave Schnier reported on the need for a policy on Disaster Preparedness by concentrating on the items that most pertain to our area. Need a committee to work with Dave on preparing this policy. Steve Cahoy, Steve Mangler along with Dave Frett will work with Dave Schnier on this policy.

Faith Facility Report: Father stated this report will probably be ending as we are now in our new building. We still have the signage and the canopy over the handicapped entrance to be completed in the near future. Father stated that the Witt family, on behalf of Maureen, will be donating stained glass windows for the Blessed Sacrament Chapel.

Prince of Peace School Report: Written report submitted. Ed O’Neill mentioned the high school students will be listening to nationally known speaker, Jason Evert. 1. Parish Life:  Mary Beth mentioned the upcoming Pork Dinner.
  2. Liturgical & Spiritual Life Commission: Father Thom mentioned that we now have the statues of Mary and Joseph in their proper place. Children’s Liturgy of the Word will be starting soon and they are planning a server appreciation dinner. Father also mentioned the 14-hour Adoration that went well.
  3. Social Action Commission: Father said with Marc Smith leaving the Council we will need to fill his position with the Social Action Commission with a member of the Council. Father stated a lot going on with one of them being the Peru Initiative of Spiritual Bouquets and the Habitat for Humanity with Steve and Kerry Notz being the recipients. It would be nice if our Parish could donate a couple of lots to Habitat as they are looking for lots. Pro-Life is very active and the Crop Walk is coming up.
  4. Finance Commission: No report but in Ed’s absence Dave mentioned the ADA weekend coming up.
  5. Faith Formation: Written report submitted. Mary Jo mentioned they will be back on track after summer break. Mary Jo said they have many programs going.

Dave then mentioned a webinar discussing Hospitality will be shown on Thursday, September 24th, and if we know of any Ushers, Greeters, etc. that would like to come and view this webinar to contact him.

Father Thom gave us a surprise by telling us that he will be going to Mexico for the month of January to study Spanish.

Next meeting will be October 15, 2009 @ 7:00 p.m. at the Parish Office.

Father Thom led us in closing prayer ending with the “Our Father.”

We closed with singing Happy Birthday and treats for Father Tony’s birthday.

Respectfully submitted,
Bev Putman
