Vote passed 8-1.

Pastors Report:  No written report.  Father mentioned the Chrism Mass on Monday, March 22nd, at 5:00 pm at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Davenport. It would be nice for all who can to attend this Mass. Father also mentioned Confirmation on Wednesday the 24th with Bishop Amos in attendance.  It has been approved for work to begin on the canopy next week so the East entrance will be closed off for a few days. Father also mentioned the Peru Banquet is April 10th.

Old Business

  • Updates on St.  Irenaeus Church and Clinton County Historic Society Meeting:  Ed stated that the Finance Committee is ready to turn the St. Irenaeus property over to the Clinton County Historical Society.  They feel they can’t go out and ask for donations until the property is theirs.  This should happen in the very near future. Some restrictions could apply but once the building belongs to them our control and upkeep is up to them.
  • Signage for Church: Ed passed out two samples of the signage. One will be at the Parkway entrance and a smaller version will be at the East entrance.   The cost for the large sign without a message board will be approximately $26,000 plus $14,000 for electric cost and an additional $40,000 if it is decided to do a message board. The smaller sign at the south entrance by the cross would be approximately $8,000.  This sign would have the scheduled Mass times on it.

       •  Mortgage Burning Celebration: Bev stated that the Mortgage burning celebration would beon June 12th after the 5:00 pm Mass.

  • Habitat for Humanity – need chairperson for our parish: The chairman will be Frank Cornwell with assistance from Steve Mangler.
  • RDG proposal for beginning the design of the new parish hall: Father Tony had a preliminary letter giving some assumptions based on previous efforts. Discussion followed on the proposed cost estimates which some members felt was too high. It was suggested that maybe it would be best to wait for the survey to be taken and put it on hold, at least temporarily.

New Business: Stan mentioned that a parishioner asked about sending letters to troops in Afghanistan. Some discussion followed on the best way to do this. Stan will look into the project to see if any group would be willing to take on this project.

Prince of Peace School Report: Written report submitted. Lisa touched on a few items.  Kindergarten round-up is being held at the school tonight. Both the boys and girls basketball teams did very well this season. Two students earned ratings of “1” in the district speech competition and are going to State.

COMMISSION REPORTS:

  • Parish Life: No report.
  • Liturgical & Spiritual Life Commission: No written report. Fr. Thom mentioned that the discussion mainly revolved around the progress for Holy Week.
  • Social Action Commission: Written report submitted. Father Tony mentioned the Annual Peru dinner on April 10th at St. Boniface Hall.  There will be a blessing of the property for Habitat for Humanity on April 11th and Pax Christi will end the Peace Soup suppers this next Wednesday.
  • Finance Commission: Ed stated he had no more news not covered in above items.
  • Faith Formation: Written report submitted. Mary Jo touched on the different committee reports and said the next meeting would be March 23 at 12:15 pm at the Parish Office.

           1. Evangelization Committee: Father Thom mentioned the             conversation centered on the information about Catholic Stewardship             Consultants and he also mentioned the Book Fair going on this             weekend.

  • Stewardship Committee: Odelia stated all was covered in above.

Next meeting will be April 15, 2010 @ 7:00 p.m. at the church.

Deacon Jeff said closing prayer.
