Old Business

  • Updates on the status of St. Irenaeus Church; Catholic Historical Center at St. Boniface; Old Rectory; Ed stated more conversation on the St. Irenaeus property is needed. Ed said the donation for Habitat of the two lots at the St. Irenaeus site will soon be happening. Ed said he is still working on the St. Boniface operating agreement. Ed stated we have agreed to sell the Old Rectory to the Victory Center Ministries Inc. The agreed price is $100,000 with a $10,000 down payment, monthly payments for 12 months with a balloon payment at that time. The closing is due on March 1st, 2010. Discussion followed.
  • Parish Goals – new hall:  Mary Jo mentioned in the November meeting it was suggested we get RDG on board. With the Diocesan Capital Campaign going forward during November and December, this has not been done yet. Much discussion followed on when we should start on this.

New Business:

  • Reflections on Advent-Christmas season – crowds, Mass times, concerns, accolades – things to do next year or things to avoid:  All seemed to think the Masses and music were beautiful. Many kudos to Deacon Jeff and Ray Mantsch for the decorations and the placement of the Crèche.  One comment was to have only one Mass on Christmas day.  We will probably add more chairs for the Children’s Mass next year. Father mentioned the Blue Christmas service that Annette and Deacon Jeff put on. Everyone felt that Christmas went very well and thanks to Fareway for the use of their parking lot and to the Knights for their help in parking of cars.
  • Reflections on Parish Renewal:  Father stated that with all the technical problems, Orange Bowl and pending snow storm that we still had between 150-200 people each night. Brenda talked about the kids enjoying the time with the college students that came with the Sisters. Father said they collected about $1200 from the free will offering. Father mentioned that the Canticle put up the entire group for six nights. Our thanks to all the Sisters at the Canticle.  One of the students did a painting which will be on display.
  • One Year Anniversary of our Church: Father stated that our 1st Anniversary this year falls on a Sunday and we should acknowledge this is some way. If it doesn’t fall on a Sunday it will be a Mass of Solemnity. Maybe the Liturgy commission could look into this.
  • Burning of our Mortgage: Father stated that we should have a party for this momentous event. He suggested we have a committee to work on this, possibly have the celebration when it is warmer. Mike Finn, Mary Beth Butt, Madonna Berry and Bev Putman have volunteered to work on this.

Prince of Peace School Report: Written report submitted. Father mentioned that Lisa Chapman was unable to attend due to her nephew’s funeral. Mary Jo said Homecoming week is next week and the annual Pot of Blue and Gold Raffle will also kick off on Saturday night. The high school student council is planning activities to help with Haitian relief efforts. The high School Pro Life group spent the morning walking and praying in front of Planned Parenthood in the cold and freezing rain.

COMMISSION REPORTS:

  • Parish Life: No report.
  • Liturgical & Spiritual Life Commission: No written report. Father Tony, Bev and Deacon Jeff remarked on how well the Liturgies were for Christmas and the decorations were beautiful. They mentioned that the times will be announced for Ash Wednesday Masses. A meeting is being planned for the Mass Coordinators to look at a Ministry Scheduler program.
  • Social Action Commission: No Report. Father is checking to see about a chairperson for the Habitat for Humanity. Father also mentioned the Pax Christi Peace Soup on Wednesday’s during Lent starting at 6 PM. Father mentioned the special collection coming up for Haiti relief. Father also mentioned Bishop Dan’s letter of appreciation to the Parish.
  • Finance Commission: Ed said they haven’t had a meeting but for the last six months we are on target for our budget. Envelope giving is down about $11,000, but that is partially due to a progressive budget. Our 2009 envelope giving was up $42,000 from 2007. Ed stated also that our membership is growing. Steve Mangler talked on the Building & Grounds Committee and confusion on duties of Chairman and who is on the committee. They will get with Dave on this.  Discussion followed on many items.
  • Faith Formation: No written report. Mary Jo stated they had 22 in attendance on Couples night. Next meeting is scheduled at 12:15 PM next Tuesday.

1Evangelization Committee: Mary Beth said they talked about the            Renewal, the radio station sign on the property and are discussing            Bible  Study programs.

  • Stewardship Committee: No report – meeting cancelled. Next meeting will be the first Thursday in February.

Father Tony mentioned the new Bulletin cover is in color. All of us were impressed.
Father asked that we remember Lisa Chapman’s nephew and the people in Haiti.

Next meeting will be February 18th, 2010 @ 7:00 p.m. at the church.
Adjourned to have refreshments for Bev’s birthday.  I was really surprised and honored.

Deacon Jeff said closing prayer.

  • Respectfully submitted,
  • Bev Putman
