Pastor’s Report: Father mentioned that StanTenboer had to go to the hospital for some tests and we should pray for him.  Father talked about all the physical items and emotional issues that need to take place by the time we get into our new church. A committee needs to be formed to help with all the issues. A new Property Abatement Committee has been formed. (See Activities and Issues 2008 from Father Tony). Father stated that the first Liturgy must be the Dedication Ceremony. Father mentioned that Betty Mantsch will be leaving in May and she will be missed by all. They are working on plans for the Parish Renewal February 25-27. Father said that we would be hosting a seminary intern student, Joseph Nguyen, from February to May. CEW for both the men and women is coming up.

Facilities Report: No written report. Dick Roberts reported on the reason why the steel has not been erected. The problem has now been corrected and Estes has assured us the new steel contractors will be on sight soon and no additional costs will be incurred as Estes will cover the additional costs involved. The pew manufacturers are on board and the details of the sound system are being worked out. A list of items that will be needed for the church is being compiled.

Old Business:
      A.  First Diocesan Pastoral Council Minutes – 11/18/07: Written report included. Lenny Weih reported on the group that met for the first time on 11/18/07. Lenny and Jennifer Troxel are representing Prince of Peace Parish. Lenny said there would be four meetings a year. Purpose of the council is to give input to the Bishop.

New Business:

A. Discussion Topic – Pastoral Council Survey Question #6 – “Are their pressing “issues” in our parish that need immediate attention?” Lenny said that #3 on Father Tony’s list would need a committee to work on this. There was much discussion on this. Maybe start out with a small group and work out from that. Look at the Commission heads to begin with. The small group needs to identify what needs to be done and then communicate to the entire Parish. Father Tony said we need two (2) people to chair this committee and organize some of the issues that we will be faced with. Lenny asked for volunteers. We need to e-mail Lenny within two weeks if you are willing to work on this core group and then it can be broken out into small groups. Lots of discussion on this item followed. Jim DeMong asked about the liaison of the Hispanic community? Do we need to pursue this need? It was determined that we need to pursue this issue to find out what the need is. Discussion followed. It was decided to table this issue until the next meeting.

Prince of Peace School Report: Written report included. Ed O”Neill said that Catholic School’s Week begins Sunday, January 27th. Ed also mentioned that they are in the process of hiring a new Development Director. Ed mentioned that we have received $189,000 from STO for the next school year. Ed said they are desperately looking for a Spanish teacher.

COMMISSION REPORTS:
Parish Life Commission:  No Report
Liturgical & Spiritual Commission: Written report submitted. Fr Thom said they are meeting Saturday and have a full plate, which includes Lent and the preparation for closing Liturgies and the Dedication for our new church.
Social Action Commission: Written report submitted. Marc stated they met last week and on Sunday, January 20th, was the reenactment of Civil Rights for the celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Pax Christi will again be hosting the Peace Soup during Lent.
Finance Commission: Ed Kross stated we are approaching $1,000,000 of gifts received on Building Peace II. Annual Diocesan Appeal is about $10,000 short. Ed mentioned we are billed for a certain number of subscriptions whether people pay for them or not and if short it has to be made up from general Parish funds. We have started working on the 08-09 budget and have many challenges ahead on this. Ed said the Victory Center has secured their funding for the Parish Office.  The road that will come in from the Parkway will be called LaMetta Wynn Drive.
Faith Formation Commission: Written report submitted. Mary Jo said the next meeting will be held on January 22nd.
       A. Evangelization Committee: Fr. Thom said that Sister Judy Herold met with them on November 26th and gave a wonderful presentation on what evangelization looks like in a parish.
Stewardship Committee: Written report submitted. Odelia said the Pastoral Council should be reminded of stewardship recognition. Jim DeMong commented on the Time and Talent follow-up and that Stewardship liaisons will distribute the lists to ministry leaders. It was also mentioned that if anyone needs help in making phone calls that they will get them help.  Also, write down any feedback that is received while making phone calls.

Lenny said there would be a short meeting for Council members only, following this meeting.

Next Meeting February 21, 2008 @ 7:00 P.M.

Deacon Jeff led us in the Parish Prayer.

Respectfully submitted,
Bev Putman
